    Obituary:
We regret to record the death of our friend Thomas Cash, which took place on the 28th ult., at his residence at Hove, after some years of fluctuating ill-health. He was born in 1827, the son of William Cash, and his family training was from the first in temperance principles. The best years of his life were closely associated with the interests of the United Kingdom Temperance and General Provident Institution. When only twenty-five he became a director of this institution, and some nine years later, on the death of its secretary, was elected to that office. Later, Thomas Cash was appointed managing director, and, on the retirement of Robert Warner, one of the founders, chairman. Finally he became president of the institution.

From its inception Thomas Cash took the liveliest interest in the London Temperance Hospital. He was elected chairman of the provisional committee in 1873, and in the same year chairman of the board, a position to which he was annually re-elected until 1899, when he became vice-president, and in 1900, in succession to the Duke of Westminster, president. Thomas Cash was also an active supporter of the National Temperance League, and of the United Kingdom Alliance. For many years he acted as treasurer of the Friends' Temperance Union. His genial and kindly presence will be much missed in all the circles where he was known.

The funeral took place at Brighton on the 2nd inst. Among those who were present were Alderman Strong and Dr. Dawson Burns, chairman and hon. sec. of the London Temperance Hospital Board, John Hilton, and Mrs George Cadbury.
