On 21 Jan 1945 moved to Stalag VIIIC and on 4 Feb 1945 camp was evacuated and had to march for 400 miles which took 30 days until they reached camp 9c at Bad Orb and stayed here until the camp was liberated by the Americans on the 2 Apr 1945.

Mr and Mrs J.J. Waterfall of Sheep Street, Skipton, have received official notification that their younger son, Private Sidney Waterfall, R.A.M.C., serving in the Middle East, has been posted as missing. Aged 24, he was previousley employed by Messrs. Knowles and Harrison Solicitors, Skipton. He has played half-back for Skipton Christ Church and Sutton United football clubs. Pte. Sidney Waterfall, younger son of Mr and Mrs J.J. Waterfall, of Sheep Street, Skipton, is a prisioner of war in Crete. Pte. Waterfall who was serving with the R.A.M.C, was posted missing about two months ago. Aged 24, Pte. Waterfall has played half-back for the Sutton United and Skipton Christ Church football teams. His father is a well-known Skipton bookseller and stationer.
